                                      The story Verger by Somerset Maugham .We see Albert Edward who is working as verger in St.Peter Church has been working there in the church for more than sixteen years for the surprise to reader and the Vicar the Verger cannot read or write he was illiterate when Vicar came to know about the illiteracy of Albert .He said to Albert that “At a church like saint peter we cannot have a verger who can neither right or read”.

              At this time the Vicar only wanted a fashion church and for that he could not afford a verger like Albert who could not read or write and therefore he ordered Albert to leave the job as a verger.

                              At this time Albert was very disappointed as he was emotionally attach to his church because  he served their for sixteen  years but Vicar ignored the fact that Verger has managed well even without literacy for sixteen years and therefore he fail to examine the situation with sympathy and one mildness.

              Before joining the church has Verger Albert was a servant at a very rich man house at after leaving the jog as Verger he had just one option left and therefore that was to resume the job as a servant but the Verger said “Know” the situation and he had make up his mind that at any cost he will not be servant again but this time .He will be master Albert could think that because he had confidence and faith in his capability.

                             One day Albert wanted to smoke but he could not find any cigarette and this gave him an idea to open a Tobacco shop. He started with one tobacco shop this strong will and desire  

                      “We do not walk on our legs, but on our will”.

                    Like the proverbs says Albert was walking on his will because he now do not want to be a servant again and therefore his wish was to be the master which he fulfill by opening more than one tobacco shops in variety of places.

              When he lost his job he never thought that now he will lose his self respect to come out their circumstances. He started his own tobacco shop in these circumstances. He did not lose his courage and his strong will power. He not only became the businessman .He became “A successful business man” earning above than average.

                          One day he bend to deposit of his saving in certain bank and in his account there was already more than Thirty Thousand Pound therefore the manager ask Albert to save all the saving in the bank account and for that he had to sign some papers when he manager gave this papers and gives reason for the denies Albert says that he cannot read or write and therefore want be able to sign the papers when the manager listen he was surprisingly shock and said

         ‘That the most extraordinary things I ever heard”.

                      The manager could not belive the illiteracy of Albert and he surprising ask without being able to read or write. You have Thirteen pound in your bank account than

              “What would you be now if you had been able to “.

   Albert very humbly replays that

                 “He would be verger of saint peter Neville Square”.

                                    Thus Albert who did not had writing or reading skill ‘ Had a Assertive skill ” with the power assertive skill the established himself “ For a Verger of church to a successful businessman” and therefore what necessary is how to you utilized the things that you have learn not just keeping on learning the same thing was done by Albert and therefore becomes  something from nothing “ Kill your enemy with your kindness ”as the proverbs says Albert did not saint he killed his enemy( Vicar) with his kindness.
