Far From Madding Crowd was called far from the frenzied crowd but was changed to far from crowd .The title has been taken from the “Poem, Elegy written Churchyard.
The Meaning of Madding means the countryside which is considered by Thomas Hardy as and and ideally place to be away from the made madness of the city.
The title refers to the fact that the novel is sent in the countryside way from the town or city which is known as Madding Crowd. Thomas Hardy has always love village or countryside because these are the places which are very much close   to nature and its beauty. The beauty of nature has always in fascinated hardy and therefore almost all the scenes that we see in the novel or the life of the character are shown in the village called wealtharbury.

The title far from the imply that real life, close to nature and away from the madding crowd of city  the interest and the fascinated of Hardy towards country life can be clearly se in the novel because the two lead protagonist of the novel are female farmer and  a Shepherd who represent the country life and in a way they also search of the life that is close to nature and which satisfies the soul . The Title implies meaningful life and the imperative soul dilemma of find oneself “Against the heard”.
Almost all the scenes an incidence takes place in the world which is away from the superficial glittering light of city. Hardy emphasis the importance of the country life which is away from the tramping and seduction that the busy world present very convincing.
In the novel far from the madding crowd we see number of people who are related with the country life including the hero Gabriel Oak, Heroine Bathsheba and the antagonist Troy and only character that are happy though out he novel as the rusting characters .All most whole the novel of hardy gives with the plot which revolved around the life rusting people.
In the novel we see nesting wish and desire of Bathsheba who always had the urge of gaining from materialistic life but ultimately toward end of the novel we see a certain change in her character who is now frustrated from the people around here and now she wants to live of peaceful life.
In the novel the protagonist Gabriel Oak is very much close to nature and also to the animal and he could predicted what will happen with the change in the atmosphere and therefore in chapter 36 well in jeopardy Oak gazes at the sky and noticed the sign of bad weather and guess that there will be a strong storm soon and the storm will create much ruining the farms.
Oak is also close to the animal as he could sense the pain of sheep’s and in the chapter 21 (Trouble in the fold) there accurse tragic incident in farm of Bathsheba that some sheep shad badly was the only person who skillfully could perform the oppression.
Thus as the title suggest the novel is about being away from the mountain life of city or town and being around the beauty of nature and finding oneself against the heard and therefore Gabriel Oak Bathsheba in the end of novel want to live there life away from all the people and wanted to pass their life being near to the nature.
