Comedy
Introduction:-
In ordinary conversational English the words comedy and comic are used
for anything that is funny or laughable.A much has been return about the
philosophy of laughter yet most of us would find it hard to explaining why we
laugh at all .Any history of comedy would have begging with the ancient Greek “Como's”
show the performance as a kind of comic relief in the from of play.
The short note about the Comedy:-
The earliest English romantic comedy
is probably “Ralph Roister Distorter” return by headmaster of west minister school.
Another famous comedy “Grammar Burton Needle” was published of Cambridge
there are various types of comedy like romantic comedy, Classical comedy,
Comedy of humors, Comedy of manners, Farce and Dark or Tragic comedy.
It was Shakespeare who
carried romantic comedy especially during the period of 1594- 1600. His famous comedies
are “A Midsummer nights Dream”, “As you like it “and “Twelfth Night”. Other writer
of romantic comedy in Shakespeare time was Beaumont Fletcher who worked
together in writing a number of a plays. Another writer named Thomas Decker
presented humors and realistic element in his famous comedy “The Shoe maker’s
holidays”.
The comedy of humors is a
fresh generally used in connection with Ben Johnson during Elizabethan Era. His
comedies include
1) “Every man in his Humor’s,
2)“Every man out of his humor”,
3)“Silent
women”,
4) “Walpole” and
5)“The Alchemist”.
Johnson’s ideas were that comedy should
not be “True to life” but “Large than life”.
The comedy of manners is
a froze often used in literary history and criticism those its meaning is not
always clear. The flavor of this particular comedy is Congreve, Sheridan and
Oscar wild .The chief writer of sentimental were Sir Richard. Here the word of
sentimental stands for unusual sense. A sentimental comedy was one written with
the intention with moral sentiments other word having elements preaching wither
disgusting or entertaining.
The based introduction to
dark comedy can be had reading Shakespeare “ Measure for Measure”, “ Troilus or
Cressida” and “The Taming the shrew “ the first two are cynical bitter and unpleasant.

While summing up we can say
that comedy stands for entertaining and providing moral value. Thre are various
theory and type comedy but what matter here is its nature of making reader to happy
though its action and dialogues etc.
