Various Theories of comedy
Introduction:-
If a p[lay gives
us a pleasant feeling of life.we can undoubtedly call it a comedy amusement and
entertainment of comedy are usually linked with laughter .Laughter may be
caused by sheer buffoonery or target a shade of sadness or reaction but comedy always lives by the
laughter of the audience.
The Various Theories
of Comedy:-
Critics like Plato, Aristotle,
Descartes Hobbes, Hegel, Spencer, Bergson and Freud have presented different theories
of laughter. The first theory’s of laughter has been recognized as Aristotle
“Rhetoric” and that is the theory of incongruity produces a sort of emotion
shock. We face something different from what we accepted and we laugh or simile
for example a man cries for a water and the servant brings a glass of water but
instead given to it .His master drinks
it up himself or take the usually prop; “ Man propose god disposes” a comic
version would read “ Man proposes wife disposes”. Some inspect reply or
action is the source this comic in congruity.
The second theory f

The source of laughter
is not always incongruity , joy , fun of farce or scorn .We sometimes laugh in sorrow also very often .We
says “ We do not know , whether to laugh or to cry” thus, laughter may arise

that laughter depends upon the state of mind
of the audience.

This theory’s show various methods of laughing and to entertain the reader or audience.
